CELPIP Writing Section Overview

The CELPIP Writing section evaluates your ability to communicate clearly in written English. It consists of two tasks:

1. Task 1: Writing an Email
2. Task 2: Responding to Survey Questions

Both tasks require a strong understanding of structure, coherence, and grammar. To succeed, it’s important to organize your ideas clearly and support them with examples.

Guidelines to Crack the CELPIP Writing Section

1. Understand the Task: Carefully read the instructions for each task and make sure you understand what is required. In Task 1, write a formal or semi-formal email; in Task 2, respond to the given survey question with specific opinions.
2. Plan Your Response: Before writing, spend 2-3 minutes planning your ideas. Identify the main point, supporting details, and examples.
3. Organize Ideas Logically:
   • Introduction: Clearly state the purpose of your email or opinion.
   • Body: Develop your ideas with reasons and examples.
   • Conclusion: Summarize your points or restate your opinion.
4. Use Clear and Concise Language: Avoid long, complicated sentences. Use everyday language but be mindful of formal tone for emails.
5. Check Grammar and Vocabulary: Use appropriate verb tenses and sentence structures. Avoid repetitive words; instead, use a variety of vocabulary.
6. Review Your Work: Leave time at the end to check for spelling and grammatical errors.
