To develop children’s speaking skills by encouraging them to talk about their favorite TV show, express opinions, and learn new vocabulary, including idioms and millennial slang.
Activity Plan
1. Warm-up (5 minutes)
Trainer asks students:
•Do you like watching TV shows?”
•“Can you name some popular TV shows that kids love?”
•“What makes a TV show interesting for you?”
Trainer introduces the term “binge-watching”
•“Do you ever watch multiple episodes of a show in one sitting?”
•“This is called binge-watching—when someone watches a lot of episodes in a short time!”
2. Discussion Questions (20 minutes)
Each student takes turns answering the following questions. Trainer encourages them to give details and speak in full sentences:
1.What is your favorite TV show?
2.Why do you love watching it? (Funny? Exciting? Mysterious? Inspiring?)
3.How much time do you spend watching it?
4.Who is your favorite character? Why do you like them?
5.If you could be a character in the show, which one would you be and why?
6.Do your parents allow you to watch it freely, or do they set rules?
7.Do you binge-watch it sometimes? If yes, how does it feel?
8.If you could change one thing about the show, what would it be?
Trainer’s Note:
•Encourage students to speak for at least 1-2 minutes per question.
•Help them use descriptive words (e.g., “The show is hilarious and full of adventure!”)
3. Idioms Related to Favorite Things (5 minutes)
Trainer teaches two idioms and asks students to use them in sentences:
1.“Right up my alley” – Something that perfectly matches your interests.
•Example: “This show is right up my alley because I love mystery stories!”
2.“Hooked on” – When you really enjoy something and can’t stop watching/doing it.
•Example: “I’m hooked on this show! I can’t wait for the next episode!”
4. Millennial & Gen Z Slang (5 minutes)
Trainer introduces fun, modern words that kids use today:
Word. Meaning Example Sentence
GOAT Greatest of All Time “This show is the GOAT! I watch it every day!”
Hype Very exciting or cool “Everyone is talking about this show. It’s so hype!”
No Cap Telling the truth “No cap, this is the best TV show ever!”
Slay Doing something amazing “The main character slays in every episode!”

Trainer’s Task:
•Ask students to create a short story using each word.
•Encourage them to use these words naturally when discussing their favorite show.
5. Wrap-up & Reflection (5 minutes)
Trainer asks each student:
•“What did you learn from today’s session?”
•“Did you enjoy speaking about your favorite show?”
•“Which new word or idiom do you want to use more often?”
Fun Ending Challenge:
Ask students to describe their favorite show in one sentence using at least one millennial word and one idiom!
Outcome:
By the end of the session, students will:
Feel more confident in expressing their opinions.
Learn how to structure answers and speak fluently.
Understand binge-watching and how TV habits affect them.
Use fun idioms and modern slang in conversations.
Trainer’s Tip: Keep the session engaging, interactive, and fun! Encourage students to ask each other questions to improve their listening and speaking skills.
