Objective of the Lesson:
The goal of this lesson is to help students make predictions about the future by discussing potential changes in technology, society, or the environment. In the CELPIP test, students might be asked to predict future changes as part of their speaking or writing tasks.
How to Talk About Predicting Future Changes:
- Introduce the topic of change: Start by mentioning the area in which you’re predicting changes, like technology, society, or lifestyle. Use phrases like:
- “I think in the future, we’ll see changes in…”
- “It’s likely that in the coming years, we’ll experience…”
- “One area where I expect significant change is…”
- Make a prediction: Share what you think will happen and explain why. Use phrases like:
- “I believe that in the next few decades…”
- “In the future, it’s possible that…”
- “I predict that we’ll see more… because…”
- Explain the potential impact: Talk about how these changes will affect daily life, work, or society. Use phrases like:
- “This change will likely lead to…”
